JOBS
Wolf & Wren | Ongoing Freelance Graphic Designer
Wolf & Wren is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented freelance graphic designer to support our growing stationery brand. This is an opportunity to work closely with our founder on a variety of creative projects, from preparing artwork for production to maintaining our wholesale catalog and improving how our products show up online.
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical design skills with creative judgment. You'll be comfortable executing established designs, but you'll also know when to step back, look at the bigger picture, and recommend ways to strengthen our visual identity and product presentation.
We're a small, independent team, so we're looking for someone who can work autonomously, bring relevant experience, and get up to speed quickly without extensive training.
The details
Arrangement: Ongoing freelance engagement, beginning with an initial three-month period
Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per month, depending on project needs
Compensation: $45-55 per hour, depending on experience and fit
Location: Remote, open to candidates based in the United States, working with our Longmont, Colorado-based team.
Collaboration: Monthly planning meeting, with additional check-ins as needed
We'll evaluate the fit and workload together at the end of the initial engagement, with the potential for continued work by mutual agreement.
About the Role
You'll help keep our creative operations running smoothly while contributing to the continued growth of the Wolf & Wren brand. The work combines hands-on design production with opportunities to improve our products, packaging, catalog, and overall visual presentation.
Design Production & Creative Support
Prepare artwork for production, including adding card backs, refining edges, cleaning up artwork, and preparing accurate, print-ready files.
Adapt existing designs for additional products and formats while maintaining the integrity of the original artwork.
Prepare files for updates to legacy letterpress cards and other existing products.
Ensure production files meet specifications and are organized for easy access and future use.
Catalog & Wholesale Support
Maintain and update our wholesale catalog in Adobe InDesign, including adding new products, updating product information and imagery, and keeping layouts consistent and polished.
Prepare design assets for catalog updates and new product launches.
Help maintain a cohesive visual presentation across our wholesale materials.
Website & E-commerce Support
Create and update product imagery, including consistent card-and-envelope images for our website and Faire wholesale shop.
Help keep product listings visually cohesive, polished, and easy for customers to navigate.
Prepare design assets for new product launches and online merchandising.
Product Design, Packaging & Marketing
Support the development of new products by adapting existing artwork and designs for stickers, branded merchandise, paper goods, and other creative offerings.
Design and refine packaging for new products, ensuring it fits cohesively with our existing brand and packaging.
Create marketing materials to support product launches, promotions, and other brand initiatives.
Bring thoughtful recommendations for improving brand consistency, visual presentation, and customer experience.
Trade Show Support
Assist with trade show preparation, including booth graphics, signage, and other visual materials.
Help ensure our trade show materials reflect the Wolf & Wren brand and showcase our products effectively.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a designer who is both technically capable and creatively thoughtful. The right person enjoys the details of production work, understands how design decisions affect the finished product, and can recognize opportunities to make a brand stronger.
Experience & Skills
Approximately 3–5+ years of professional graphic design experience, ideally in stationery, greeting cards, paper goods, packaging, publishing, or consumer products.
Strong proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
Proficiency in Procreate.
Experience maintaining multi-page layouts and preparing production-ready files for professional printing.
A solid understanding of print production, including bleeds, trim, color, image resolution, and printer specifications.
Experience adapting artwork across products and formats while maintaining design integrity.
A strong eye for typography, layout, color, and visual consistency.
Excellent organization, file management, communication, and deadline-management skills.
A portfolio demonstrating relevant design and production work.
Experience with wholesale catalogs, product packaging, e-commerce imagery, Faire, or trade show design is especially valuable.
Experience with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms, product merchandising, writing product descriptions, or optimizing product imagery for online sales is a plus. Strong graphic design and print-production skills are the priority.
How You Work Matters, Too
We value people who:
Take ownership of assignments and carry projects from brief to finished deliverable.
Work independently, manage their time well, and communicate proactively about deadlines or challenges.
Notice details and catch inconsistencies before they become problems.
Bring ideas and practical recommendations rather than simply waiting for instructions.
Balance creative thinking with the ability to execute established designs accurately.
Enjoy collaborating with a small team and contributing to a brand's continued growth.
Working Relationship
You'll work primarily with Lauren, co-founder of Wolf & Wren, on design projects, production needs, and the overall creative direction of the brand. You may also collaborate with our co-founder and illustrator, Liz, on specific projects as needed.
We value clear communication, creative independence, and thoughtful collaboration. We want to build a working relationship in which you become familiar with our brand, understand what makes it distinctive, and can contribute your expertise with confidence.
A Little About Wolf & Wren
Wolf & Wren is an independent, Colorado-based stationery brand built around clever and delightful paper goods.
What began as a small creative business has grown into an award-winning brand with a brick-and-mortar shop in Longmont and a wholesale business serving retailers. We've earned four Louie Awards for excellence in greeting card design.
Our work is rooted in connection, creativity, humor, optimism, and an appreciation for the natural world. We believe everyday objects can bring people together, make someone laugh, or help express something that's hard to put into words.
We're continuing to grow and evolve, and we're looking for talented people who care about their craft, bring ideas of their own, and want to help build something thoughtful and distinctive. We value creative independence, clear communication, collaboration, and people who take pride in doing good work.
If you enjoy solving creative problems, thinking beyond the immediate task, and helping a small independent brand reach its next chapter, we'd love to hear from you.
