Block Print Collage Mail Art: Postcards and Cards

Unlock your creativity in the two-part workshop, where you will combine block printing with collage to create unique handmade postcards or cards.  Explore techniques in design, carving and printing while bringing your own artistic vision to life.

April 13th and 27th from 9:30-11:00
note: this class will be divided into two classes because most of the carving will be done at home.

Location: Wolf & Wren, 331 Main, Longmont CO

Needed: Linoleum carving tool(s), and optional supplies are a brayer and 1 or 2 (not black) block printing ink colors
Supplied: 2 Speedball Easy Carve 4x6 block, ink, thick paper for postcards or cards

April 13th part 1: participants will design, carve and proof. Then they have
some time between workshops to carve multiple designs based on their concept.
April 27th part 2: printing the collage and making postcards or cards.

Note: Any carving tools are fine but for a starter you might want to consider the Speedball carving tool that has multiple interchangeable tips. These will be available for purchase at Wolf & Wren.
The optional supplies would be used at home after Part 1 so no need to have those for the first meet up on April 13th.

Instructor: Ian T. Nordeck

Ian T. Nordeck is a creative director and designer with over 20 years of experience shaping visual narratives and crafting meaningful design solutions. A lifelong artist, his creative journey began in childhood—sketching worlds for his imagination to explore—and was later enriched by a diverse path, from serving as a military policeman in the Marine Corps to earning a BFA in Design with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the Kansas City Art Institute.

With a holistic approach to design, Ian blends graphic design, industrial design, and illustration, always seeking to push beyond the obvious and capture deeper meaning. Teaching has become a natural extension of his creative work, as he finds joy in guiding others through the artistic process, sharing his experience, and inspiring new ways of thinking. Now, through workshops spanning printmaking, drawing, bookmaking, and bullet journaling, he fosters an engaging, hands-on environment where creativity thrives and participants can explore the dynamic intersection of artistry, storytelling, and craftsmanship.
